Second Annual Health Fair at SLO Natural Foods Co-op
February 20th, Rain or Shine!

Please join us on Saturday, February 20th from 11 AM to 3 PM here at the Co-op for our Second Annual Health Fair. We’ll have a vendor fair featuring both local and national brands, free samples, raffles (including a beach cruiser bicycle!), and special discounts on some of our most popular supplement and cosmetic lines. Derma-E will be here with their UV photography unit which makes any hidden sun damage visible. In addition, we’ll be hosting a blood drive with United Blood Services. If you’d like to make a blood donation you can sign up on the UBS website or you can sign up at the Co-op in person or by calling us at 544.7928 to reserve a time.

We’re also thrilled to host Jordan Rubin, founder of Garden of Life, Beyond Organic, and Get Real Nutrition for a free health seminar. Jordan is the New York Times bestselling author of The Maker’s Diet and he will share how to improve digestion, super charge your immune system, and jump-start your metabolism. This seminar at 1:00 PM is free, but please RSVP to us at the Co-op (544.7928) so we know how many people to expect. Jordan will also be signing copies of his latest book, Planet Heal Thyself: The Revolution of Regeneration in Body, Mind and Planet.

We hope to see you here for this fun and inspiring event! Rain will not cancel.
Onward and Upward!
October 15, 2015

If you’ve shopped at the Co-op this week, you might have seen that we’re having a new Point of Sale (POS) system installed which will take the place of our separate POS and membership database. This is one of the long hoped-for improvements that we’re now able to implement and is a major step toward membership in the National Co+op Grocers (NCG). Among many other benefits, membership in NCG will allow us to get lower wholesale prices which we will be able to pass on to our customers.

The new POS will allow for more efficient ordering and inventory control. Also, by integrating membership records we will be able to offer timely and accurate information (such as your current equity balance and renewal date) directly from the registers. In addition, this system will allow us to offer “Members Only” sales as an additional membership benefit.

If you are a member, you will receive your new permanent membership card the next time you shop. Your membership will now renew on your anniversary date instead of running through the calendar year; a notice will come up in the register when your membership fees are due. As always, once you have paid for a full equity share ($300) you will not pay anything more toward your membership again.

Double discounts will be reverting back to one per month instead of 12 per year. This means that members will have three remaining discounts for 2015 (Oct/Nov/Dec) but instead, we will credit members for six double discounts – two per month – for the rest of 2015. If this still leaves you with fewer than the 12 double discounts that you are entitled to for the calendar year 2015, please bring your membership card in to Gwen, our General Manager, and she will see that the correct number of discounts are applied to your account. Effective Jan 1, 2016, members will be able to use one double discount per month. Regular daily discounts for members remain unchanged.

“Second” memberships will still be in effect but the second cardholder will not have a physical card; instead, their name will be attached to the primary member in the database. If an unused double discount is available for the current month, both the primary and the secondary member will have the option to use it; double discounts will no longer be limited to the primary member.

We ask for your patience as we implement and learn this new POS system. We are scheduled to go live on Thursday, October 15th and we look forward to being better able to serve you!
